Family Mission Trip - Spring 2011 - Visionary Family Ministries

Family Mission Trip – Spring 2011

by

We have recently returned from a 17 day family mission trip! We drove from Illnois to Texas and back again, and spoke at five different conferences along the way.

Our first ministry event was at the First Christian Church in Lamar, MO. It was a blessed two days sharing the message of Visionary Parenting and Visionary Marriage. Amy spoke at a women’s luncheon on “How A Woman Can Bless Her Family.” I was also able to meet with the church staff to discuss family ministry. God is doing great things at this church. We were particularly blessed at church on Sunday morning to see a boy profess faith in Christ and be baptized by his father.

After that conference, our friends blessed us with 3 days at their cottage on Table Rock Lake. Great fun and rest for the family.

Our second ministry adventure was at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. I spoke an their national youth pastor conference and challenged the volunteers and pastors to embrace the biblical model of family discipleship. It was a blessing to have many great conversations, and in particular to pray with one pastor who wanted to repent that he was not leading his wife and children the way God wanted him to.

From there we headed to Winnsboro, TX where I preached and shared the message of “Never Too Late” at First Baptist Church. This is a church with an exciting vision for family discipleship. We were grateful for their hospitality!

After serving in Winnsboro, we headed to Houston where we visited and helped care for Amy’s grandparents. I got a rental car and drove five hours away to Brownwood, TX where I shared the message of Visionary Parenting at Coggins Avenue Baptist Church. I was honored to have the senior pastor of this large church attend, and his encouragement meant a lot to me. The event was co-sponsored by Cross Academy, a wonderful new classical Christian school which partners with homeschooling families.

After serving in Brownwood, I reunited with the family later that evening in Austin, TX where we enjoyed three days with Amy’s brother, his wife, and their five kids. It was “cousin fest” and we had a great time.

Our final conference was held in Carl Junction, MO at First Baptist Church. Pastor Tony and Pastor Russell have caught a great vision for Bible-driven ministry and it was an honor to equip the parents their with the Visionary Parenting Conference.

Our last Sunday on the road was in St. Louis. We were invited to attend church with one of our supporters at West County Fellowship in Chesterfield, MO. Providentially, the church was 1.5 miles from our hotel! We were fed and encouraged with the message from Romans 8, and reminded that any Sunday, no matter where we are, we can walk into the doors of a Bible-believing church and be right at home.

Thanks to so many of you for your prayers and support to make this trip, and these five conferences possible. Our 12 passenger van was a huge blessing and we are already talking about when the next trip will be. Thanks again.

Thanks again, Rob
