How does one do family ministry when only the kid is attending church? Any suggestions on how to open up the rest of the family for ministry? These homes are not always hospitable, nor are they excited to go to hospitable Christian homes.
Bea, great comment. It is amazing when God gives us a chance to reach out to a child or teen from a home of unbelievers, however it is very difficult ministry. You have already noted the best way to reach the whole family of that child, which is to encourage Christian families who may know that child or that family, to build personal relationships with the parents. The best way is by inviting them to their home. This is the most natural way of reaching that entire family. It is less likely the unsaved parents will darken the door of the church building. In the meantime, be thankful that the child from the unsaved family has the opportunity to participate in the church programming!
